. >> he got barack obama elected. that's the view of "time" magazine. >> bill: isn't that a partisan thing? i mean maybe that's true but isn't that a partisan thing? he is a person of the year. >> i think you might be on to something. i think there might be partisanship over at "time" magazine. >> bill: that shouldn't be. that's not what we are in business to do here. >> let me make a bold prediction here. it's going to be barack obama. >> bill: yes, it will. that's what i said and you are right. if you agree with me you are right. this is what we should always -- >> i know how to works. [ laughter ] >> bill: he would have to be because the president overcame vast odds and shut have lost the election. let's be honest with the economic profile that we have and he won. did he something extraordinary and that i think has to be criteria. you can't discount psy. [ laughter ] there is a guy who has more than 800 million hits. >> tight race. >> bill: look at him. is that not the person of the year right there? i think the umbrella should get some mention, too. this is so insane. aren't we living

the election win. does that mean president obama wins the debate on the fiscal cliff? >> i think in the end he will get what's the most important thing to him which is the 98%. could he be more clear bill? that's the one nonnegotiable thing. he's saying this is the one thing i want. therefore, everything else, maybe he can't deal on. yeah, there's a lot of ways you could take care of ensuring that the wealthiest still get many breaks but this is one the tax rate break that the president doesn't want to give. i find it fascinating that when the republicans as they did yesterday put out a counteroffer, they might be proud new republicans have signed on. i remember this whole debate is only about finding 30 or 40 republicans to go with the democrats to make the 218 majority. it is not about converting everyone who signed a grover norquist pledge. this whole thing is about finding 30 or 40 republicans. >> bill: which means of course they have to bring it up for a vote. they could vote. with that, we'll have to pic

was and the obama coalition will be. but it was a bad moment for the romney campaign in this election. >> david mentioned in his opening remarks 47%. it was co-incidentle i think that president obama last 47% and you said that the 47% mr. romney was refering to was republicans. that was coins dental? >> what it demonstrated is a fundamental misunderstanding of the country he wanted to lead. that's what that statement showed. and a lot of those 47%. what was he saying in the statement? what he was saying is there is 47% of the country i got to write those people off because they don't pay federal income tax. and because they don't pay their a bunch of takers. you in this room, you're the makers, you're being victimized by the takers and there is nothing i can do about those takers so forget about it. i think it was a disaster. and a lot of the people in that 47% are in fact the base of the republican party. >> david. >> this is not because we're having a blue hand love in. if the republican party were to listen to half of what steve said in his opening comments they would rehabilitate themselves
